Get paid to finish your high school diploma Detroit at Work is partnering with Detroit Public Schools Community District to make adult education programs available at our career centers, so if you want to improve your math or literacy, or to take your GED, there is a program closer to you than ever before. Skills for Life Skills for Life is a new program offered by Detroit at Work and the City of Detroit that offers comprehensive career development and advancement. Participants can earn their High School Diploma/GED and gain work experience. Skills for Life jobs pay $15/hr and are located throughout Detroit at various sites. Once enrolled, your benefits are: • Get water shutoff protection • Have your past due balance erased for good • Receive an affordable fixed bill based on household income and size, and get up to 1,125 gallons of indoor water usage per household member per month • Eligible for minor plumbing repairs for high water usage DWSD has developed this water affordability program to keep everyone’s rates low. This is also why water conservation is built into the program. Once your water debt is erased and you are enrolled, please pay your income-based monthly bill.
